Over the last week I saw a few blog posts about Google Suggest, a beta service offered by Google Labs that suggests keyword phrases as you type search engine keywords into Google.
I saw a lot of posts saying “Cool”, but nothing about how a web developer or web designer might use Google Suggest to help search engine optimization and keyword mining for search engine positioning of a client website.
Google Suggest offers information about popular keyword phrases and the number of times the keyword phrases have been entered into Google by other Google visitors. This could be useful to help populate keyword phrases within a client's website. If you are a website developer or website designer, the keyword phrases offered by Google Suggest could come in handy for search engine optimization of client websites.
On the otherhand, there are discussions on various search engine and optimization websites as to whether this is a ploy by Google to steer search engine optimization companies into herding people to use various keyword phrases to help Google with various marketing venues like Google AdSense, etc.
It certainly is an interesting perspective that Google may be doing this for profit, but it is certainly too early to suggest any such conspiracy theories. It is also too early to suggest that the the keyword phrase counts offered in Google Suggest may be useful for search engine optimization. But certainly the keyword phrase counts offered by Google Suggest could be one of many factors used in helping a web developer or web designer with search engine optimization and placement.
I have a number of clients who pay me for search engine optimization and placement, so certainly I will add Google Suggest Keyword Counts as a helpful tool in my search engine and optimization strategies.
